A fabulous antique locket pendant with decorative sides and a fancy scrolled halter, the rounded square or "cushion" shape lending a soft appearance to the piece. Inside are spaces for two small photographs.
What is "rolled gold"?
Rolled gold is made by applying a thin layer of gold onto a base metal through pressure bonding. Rolled gold items are usually heavier than gold items due to the metal base or core, and are usually longer lasting than gold plated pieces where the layer of gold is much thinner. Rolled gold was a popular technique first created in the early 1800's as it gives the appearance of a solid gold piece at a fraction of the cost.

CONDITION
In good antique condition, with some surface wear commensurate with age as shown in the photos. The locket opens and closes as it should.
