An incredible, rare antique compass housed in a sterling silver case, beautifully hand engraved with a sailing ship and fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1899. The compass can be removed from the case; sadly it does not appear to navigate accurately (although the pointer does move) so this is being sold as a decorative piece only. Attached is a chunky curb link short chain and a large jump ring - most likely originally attached to a Victorian gentleman's watch chain! Each link is stamped with the lion passant, representing sterling silver.
Truly a special piece, I've never seen a piece like this before!

CONDITION
In worn antique condition. The compass pointer moves but does not move accurately. The silver case has scratches and dents as shown in the photograph, mostly to the back.
