This stunning seascape brooch is backed by parts of a real Blue Morpho butterfly wing and encased under glass, which has been painted. Mounted in silver and with the mark of the infamous Thomas L. Mott to the reverse, and the patent stamp 202213. An incredible Art Deco era brooch which is sure to spark conversation.
Butterfly wing jewellery came to be during the late Victorian period, however gained popularity during the 1920's and 30's when production was increased. Thomas L. Mott was a prolific manufacturer, with many of his pieces still sought after today.

CONDITION
In very good vintage condition, the scales of the wings in excellent condition with no loss to texture or colour. With some surface wear to the metal as shown. The pin functions perfectly.
