- Victorian Sterling Silver, Gold and Enamel Flower Plaque Brooch
- Hallmarked Birmingham 1890
- Maker's mark: T.W
- Measurements: 43mm (L) x 20mm (W)
- Weight: 8.5 grams approx.
A fantastic antique oblong brooch crafted in sterling silver, featuring a central enamelled plaque of white and blue flowers, bordered in gold, the outer edges with hand engraving and hobnail beads. On the back an English hallmark dating to 1890 is stamped in the corner, with the maker's mark of T.W stamped in the opposite corner. The brooch would have originally housed a glass panel in the back but this has since been lost; it still functions perfectly without it however. The pin is metal.
A gorgeous, well crafted late Victorian brooch.
(Please note that the antique box pictured is for display purposes only. Thank you!)
CONDITION
In overall good antique condition, with surface wear commensurate with age. A couple of the hobnail beads are a little squished. There is minor nibbling to the edges of the enamel but the main image is intact. The brooch is missing the glass panel at the back.
